Read insurance endorsements alongside the base policy, offline
Trace fictional exclusions, exceptions, and adjuster statements to the correct policy record without turning a document summary into a coverage decision.
Read an endorsement as an instruction about the policy: what it deletes, replaces, adds, or leaves untouched. Then separate the policy wording from reported loss facts and the adjuster’s interpretation. Finding an exception is only one part of a coverage review.
The question this exercise answers
The Harborfront exercise includes a fictional base form, endorsement, and field report. It tests whether a reviewer can keep a warehouse-water exception separate from a subcontractor condition and a costs-within-limits provision.
Download the fictional records
Download the separate records as a ZIP, extract it, and import the TXT files individually:
- Record 1: Commercial general liability (cgl) coverage form (excerpt)
- Record 2: Manuscript endorsement no. 14 — special conditions & exclusions
- Record 3: Senior adjuster field investigation report & reservation of rights
The combined reading copy remains available. Import either the separate files or the combined copy, not both. Question Scope selects whole imported Documents; headings such as “Record 1” inside a single TXT file cannot be selected independently. Use the separate files for this walkthrough.
These are fictional teaching records, including any future dates, statute references, and professional opinions. They are not authentic filings, standards, advice, or a benchmark of OriginPage’s answer quality.
Locate the passages before asking for a comparison
Create a separate Workspace for the exercise. Import the individual records and wait for each to show Ready. Open Document details and check the retained text. These TXT exercises do not demonstrate PDF layout extraction or OCR.
In Search, try EXCEPTION TO EXCLUSION in Exact phrase mode, without adding quotation marks. Search each relevant file as well as the collection. If wording differs, try Keyword or Hybrid and inspect the returned passages. A missing result is a reason to check wording, scope, and extraction—not proof of absence.
Choose the records allowed to answer
Select record-01.txt and record-02.txt for policy wording. Add record-03.txt only when comparing that wording with the reported loss. In Chat, use Answering from → Selected documents. Search filters and Question Scope are separate controls; setting one does not set the other.
Try this focused question:
Identify what Endorsement 14 changes and the conditions attached to its warehouse-water exception. Cite the endorsement. Keep reported loss facts and the adjuster’s coverage opinion separate from the policy text.
Check the result against the source
The following is an editorial answer key derived from the fictional files, not a recorded model response. Answers may omit relevant evidence; use Direct Search and the original records to complete the review.
| Topic | Source to inspect | Boundary |
|---|---|---|
| Warehouse exception | Record 2 requires a qualifying sprinkler event and inspection within 180 days. | Other conditions may still matter. |
| Inspection history | Record 3 reports an inspection 159 days before the loss. | Verify the underlying inspection record in a real claim. |
| Subcontractor documentation | Record 3 reports missing indemnity and insurance documents. | Counsel must assess the effect under the complete policy and applicable law. |
| Defense costs | Record 2 says defense costs reduce policy limits. | Do not substitute this exercise for the actual issued wording. |
Record 3 contains a strong coverage conclusion. Attribute it to the fictional adjuster instead of presenting it as a determination made by OriginPage. This pack is not an authentic ISO specimen or a complete policy; omitted schedules and endorsements could change the analysis.
Keep a review record
Build a review sheet with base provision, modifying endorsement, exception, condition, alleged fact, evidence still needed, and reviewer decision. Keep favorable and adverse passages together.
When a question needs two sides, open evidence from both. Check the filename, retained passage, surrounding conditions, and the original source where layout matters. A saved citation supports inspection; it does not certify the source or the conclusion.
Processing and professional boundaries
Local processing avoids an AI-provider upload, but does not establish insurance-law compliance or resolve privilege. Apply the insurer’s approved claims-handling, access, retention, and professional-review requirements.
OriginPage processes supported documents locally during ordinary use. The privacy statement explains the limits, including Windows services and local account access. For formats and supported behavior, see what OriginPage supports.
Method
Revised September 21, 2026. The two screenshots show the downloadable fictional records imported separately into the locally installed OriginPage 1.0.35.0 candidate. We ran the stated Exact phrase query, opened the shown source passage, and applied the illustrated Selected documents scope. These captures demonstrate retrieval and scope, not generated-answer quality or professional validation. The source inspector clips part of the main pane in this candidate; the screenshots preserve that observed layout. The exercise findings are an editorial answer key, not a captured model response.
